ABOUT
Optimistic Voices is a Postmodern dance musical about trauma, beauty, wanting to shine, motherhood, sex, compulsion, war... uncomfortable arousal. There will be a lot of singing and dancing intertwined with my ever evolving conversation around the demand of "aesthetic" and its pernicious need to either be high or low. The work is actively refining and lamenting this binary and its uneasy hold on me and the work. Improvisation is an interceptor or mediator of this nagging debate.....it plucks away at intuition, instinct and the role of organization; how we act on choice making and move into crafting without unnecessarily crushing potential.
